About the event

Backyard Scientists: Crack the Tree Code! is a fun, hands-on scavenger hunt where kids and families become scientists for a day! Using observation skills, NGSS-aligned pattern recognition, and a simple dichotomous key, participants will explore the park to identify trees—many of which may be growing in their own backyards.

Along the way, you'll collect nature clues like leaves and bark rubbings to create your own tree ID poster to take home. It’s science, creativity, and outdoor fun all rolled into one!

Perfect for curious minds of all ages—no lab coat required.
