Science Should Feel Relevant.
Too often, science feels abstract and disconnected, especially in rural and under-resourced communities.
When students don’t see themselves reflected in science, they disengage.
Every young person deserves science that is rooted, relevant, and empowering.
How Roots of Discovery Works
Roots of Discovery was founded by Jasmine Change-Jones (Ms. CJ), a science educator and PhD candidate in Science Education at the University of Georgia.
Rooted in Jefferson County, Georgia, she designs research-informed, place-based science experiences that expand access and opportunity for rural and underrepresented youth.

Her mission is simple: to spark curiosity, build confidence, and empower students to use science as a tool for growth and change.
Rooted Science. Rising Minds.
1 / Youth develop scientific identity
2 / Communities gather around learning
3 / STEM becomes accessible and relevant
4 / Leadership grows from within
