About the event

This November, Roots of Discovery Science Initiative Inc., in collaboration with the American Heart Association, presents Harvesting Heritage: A Community Thanksgiving Reimagined — a community celebration honoring the intersection of science, culture, and wellness.


Through hands-on learning, movement, and storytelling, participants will explore the connections between heart health, cellular respiration, and the cultural science of traditional Black foodways. From understanding how our bodies use oxygen during exercise to learning how our foods nourish both heart and heritage, this event invites families to reflect, move, and celebrate together.
